There'n Back

There'n Back is a 1974 Marine Trader trawler owned by Glenn Buchanan and Vivian Thompson. (Actually because I claimed to be the Captain, Vivian was not satisfied with 1st Mate or Admiral so she has claimed the "Owners" title and in port "She" is to be listened to.) There'n Back was purchased in 2006. It is currently located at Rideau Ferry Harbour on the Rideau River at Rideau Ferry, Ontario which is approximately 80 kilometers from Ottawa. Her coordinates are N44 50.900 W76 08.700. This location is in the heart of the World Heritage Rideau Canal System. Although it takes an hour to drive to Rideau Ferry form our home in Ottawa, it use to take two days by boat. Now on weekends we will be able to make use of the nicest part of the Rideau.

There'n Back is also a 42 foot Travel Supreme Motorhome owned by Glenn Buchanan and Vivian Thompson. There'n Back the RV was purchased in 2010. It is currently located goodness knows where because it and I love to travel. The trawler is our summer activity and the Motorhome our winter activity.

2011 Adventure

There'n Back has been put to bed for the 2010 winter and will be all ready to go in the spring. The first four season with There'n Back have been amazing and I am counting down the days till spring launch (June 2011) and then I am off again. Vivian and I are spending 62 days in Europe in the spring of 2011 and won't be back till early June when we will launch There'n Back and head out for Georgian Bay.

I have spent quite a bit of time on her but Vivian has only been able to spend a couple of weeks at a time. She retires in the Spring of 2011. As a result we will be going down the Rideau, over to the Trent Canal and up into Georgian Bay for the summer. We hope to go up the small craft route right into the North Channel and spend a lazy summer drifting around and relaxing.

I have just retired and in April 20th of 2011 my wife and I are having our retirement trip. We will be traveling to Europe for 62 days. We are taking a 15 day repositioning cruise from Florida to Copenhagen. We have rented apartments for a week in each of Northern Italy, Southern Italy, Southern France and Northern France. We have rented a car for 34 days to do this then we fly to Scotland for a week and use a rental car to travel around finally ending in London where we fly back home to Ottawa on June 20th.
