2010 CRUISE
There'n Back Picture
There'n Back is all nicely wrapped up for the winter and here I am at the end of March and I have the itch to get going for my 2010 cruising season.

We had a great summer on There'n Back in 2009

Jukka drove all the way from Vancouver to spend some time with me aboard, my son and his wife Cori visited and spent a week on the boat, Robert came and spent two weeks with me which went by too fast, Viv and I spent two weeks in July and we also had a wonderful time when we went for two weeks in early Sept.

So much for last year. We have a GREAT summer planned already. My daughter Kim who lives in London, England is going to get some time off in June to come aboard for a week. Although she was with me on the maiden voyage when we took the boat out for "Sea Trials" as part of the purchase process, she hasn't been back aboard since. We are arranging it so that while she is aboard, my son Donald and his wife Cori will come from Calgary at the same time. So the four of us will have some time together. Unfortunately Viv will have to work then, but such is life.

I am hoping my friend Dennis Nelson and his wife Mary Beth will be able to spend a long weekend with Viv and I aboard during this summer. We would look forward to having them and I think they will enjoy themselves.

Our big trip this year will start after my conference in Halifax. Viv and I will be spending the first two weeks of September in the Rideau Canal just taking life easy. I will then spend an additional week on board by myself and then go to our CEP National Convention in Toronto.

Right after the convention I will be heading to Florida with Mom who lives in Kelowna BC and Viv for my niece Bonnie's wedding. We will be meeting up with my brother Robert and his family and spending a week at a resort Vistana Beach. We have a nice villa with kitchen and a beautiful ocean view. It is so nice to be able to attend Bonnie's wedding and get a great holiday too, with the family.

After I get back from Florida I hope to get a couple more week just drifting around the middle part of the Rideau Canal till its time to put it away for another year.

Below is a map of the Rideau Canal system showing the new home port of There'n Back. We are going to move the boat from Long Island Marina to Rideau Ferry Harbour. This marina is in the heart of the Rideau System as you can see and will allow me to spend some time this summer on my own at anchor in Big Rideau Lake or at some of the nicest locks on the system. I am confident enough with the boat that I won't mind single handling it, and in fact I have already done that a number of times.

I will forward updates to my web as they occur. Hopefully you will follow the adventures of There'n Back through the summer cruise of 2010

As we progress we will update this to see if we are dreaming or are on track. Below you can see the section of the Rideau we are in this year
