There'n Back is a 1974 Marine Trader Double Cabin.
She draws 42 inches and has a beam of 11 feet 9 inches. She weighs in
at 16,000 lbs and is 21.5 feet above the waterline with her boom mast
up (15.5 feet with the mast down). She has a Uniden 625 and 525 VHF radio with a WHAMx4 hand held along with a Uniden Voyageur VHF hand held for her dinghy. She has two Garmin GPS and a chart plotter. A 16 mile JRC Radar and Lowrance Fish/Depth Finder. She has a Lewmar windlass and 200 feet of chain with a CQR 35 pound anchor. Her Dinghy is an eleven and half foot with a 9.9 Yamaha outboard on davits. We also carry two fiberglass kayaks over the aft shade roof and use the boom to raise and lower them. Just to make sure we have all means of transportation we also carry two Cannondale bikes mounted on the back cabin sole. She has 150 US gal diesel fuel capacity and 150 US gal water and two 25 US gal holding tanks. An ice maker, refrigerator and a separate freezer are on board. In 2010 we installed a new fridge and freezer up on the flybridge for extra capacity. She has two heads with three showers (one is on the aft deck). She has 120 hp Ford Lehman diesel engine and an Onan 7.5 kw diesel generator. She has a large starting battery for both the diesel and the generator and two sets of 4 x 6 volt, deep cycle batteries for her house systems. She carries two separate chargers one being 30 amps for the engine battery and a 120 amp smart charger for the house banks. She has an Xantex 1800 watt inverter. In 2008 we added a more substantial set of davits (Aikens & Hoyle) to take the weight of the dinghy with the motor. The difficulty of launching the dinghy in 2007 (we kept the motor up top and lowered it onto the dinghy after launching it) was the most awkward feature of the trawler and the new davits solved it so we get a lot more use of the dinghy. In 2010 we added an electric winch to the davit that supports the motor so it could do the work of raising and lowering the heavy end. Replacement of the electric head with a manual one (the electric just used way to much water), new stereo on the fly bridge, a newer and better plot charter. Last year we added a sun shade on the aft part of the top deck. We raised all the seats by 6 inches (we end up with a 4 foot long storage section where all the charts can be kept) and below this we have two full extension drawers so we don't have to crawl on hands and knees to reach things. We replaced the counter top with a composite material with a under the counter stainless steel sink. We are also had a 4 inch deep cupboard built 29 inches high at the end of the settee by the steering station which has a seat that folds out with a cushion that allows me to sit while I am steering. When not in use it folds up and allows easy access in and out of the salon. It also works well to store 10 inch high bottles (some of a libation nature) which is well out of sight. Replaced both mattresses in the aft cabin. Yes there is a reason why they say boating is just a hole in the water to dump money into, but it sure is fun while you're doing it. TOP of my page
